Why become a member of the CEL/ELC?
Members of the CEL/ELC derive many benefits from membership. Not only do they get access to the variety of projects and working groups run by the CEL/ELC and by member organisations of the associations, and publication possibilities in, and a free copy of, the CEL/ELC Journal. In addition, they get support, networking and brainstorming possibilities, and stimulation from like-minded colleagues in similar or related fields of multilingualism.
Member institutions of the CEL/ELC are spread both within European borders and beyond. Contact persons of these institutions include linguists, CLIL teachers, translators, interpreters, and experts in many more domains within the field of multilingualism, as well as representatives of the European Commission, Council of Europe, and European Council of Modern Languages.
Full Membership gives fee-paying member representatives full voting rights on issues related to the management of the association; access to CEL/ELC projects, working groups and special interest groups; contact with colleagues working in similar or related fields of interest in the field of language policy and education; and the opportunity to run for the Board of the association.
Associate Membership gives individuals the opportunity to join the association and participate in meetings, but without voting rights or access to the Board. Associate members are informed of all of the activities of the association and act in an advisory capacity at the General Assembly.
Honorary Membership is granted to long-time colleagues and important supporters of the CEL/ELC, and is obtained by nomination.
Institutions wishing to join the CEL/ELC as an institutional (active) or associate member can apply for membership by downloading and completing the appropriate Application for Membership form. The completed form should be sent by fax or ordinary mail to the CEL/ELC Secretariat.
